With Homecoming Season here, there's a lot more that goes into being ready for your homecoming dance other than finding the perfect homecoming dress, shoes, and accessories. There's also the age-old tradition of choosing your high school's homecoming king and queen, of course!

Well, this tradition has been given a new spin by a Wisconsin high school - this year Madison West High School in Madison, Wisconsin are starting a new tradition of a gender-neutral alternative for their homecoming court. Instead of electing a homecoming king and queen, students can nominate 20 student who they feel best represent Madison West High School, and two students will be chosen "Regent Royalty," regardless of gender. The name comes from their school mascot, which is the Regent.

WMTV explained that this progressive idea was thought up last year, when it was proposed by Madison West High School Gay Straight Alliance members Arwen Sadler and Kate Scholz. And, they worked hard to see their vision through. Students at the high school collected almost 1,000 signatures from students and teachers who supported a more inclusive method for choosing homecoming court nominees. Actor Johnny Depp's daughter Lily-Rose Depp has been taking the media by storm lately, showing off her true fashionista skills, and we're basically obsessed. Most recently, she attended the launch party of Chanel's new Mademoiselle Privé Exhibition in London, where she rocked a lavender Chanel dress and black jacket and amazed all by her totally unique and chic style. So, ok, she may not have been attending a homecoming dance, but we're totally loving her look, one that couldn't be more perfect for showing off your own style at your homecoming dance.

Her look is a perfect place to start for being inspired for homecoming not only because it's just classic stunning, but also because it's a totally funky, unique look. Teen Vogue perfectly described the look: it's "not only...mindbogglingly gorgeous, but also because it's fun and a little quirky."

So, to rock a fun, but classic lavender look like Lily-Rose Depp, you can try a dress like La Femme 16813, a cute short dress with ruffles on the skirt and a beaded top, just like Lily-Rose's dress. You can definitely twirl around in style in this dress!

Then, top off the dress with a black blazer to get a totally unexpected look that's, of course, perfect for the cooler fall weather. Try this long sleeve sequin open blazer for a dressy blazer that gives off a similar vibe to Lily's blazer.

After getting the lavender dress and black sequin blazer, all that's left to finish off the look is a simple black heel, rather than going with a high stiletto heel. After all, you can still be chic and practical! Go with Sweetie's Zabie Elegant Short Shoes for a similar choice to Lily's heels (2 and 3/4 inch heel). Or, for a slightly higher heel, go with Sweetie's Spice Open Toe Shoes (3 and 1/2 inch heel).

Congratulations to Sarah F., winner of our 2015 Homecoming Pinterest Contest!

To help make sure all of our Roo Girls are ready for Homecoming Season, we held a 2015 Fall into Homecoming Pinterest Contest. Since mid September, Rissy Roo's Pinterest fans showed off their favorite Rissy Roo's Homecoming 2015 dresses by creating a "Fave RissyRoos.com Homecoming Styles" Pinterest board. They pinned their favorite dresses from RissyRoos.com onto their board to show us what they're obsessing over for their back to school dance. Entrants had to pin at least 20 items from RissyRoos.com, tag the pins with #RissyRoosHomecoming and build up their follower base.

Girls were not only judged on following pinning and board creation directions, but also on building up the pins and followers of their board and showing us just how excited they are for Homecoming through their pins. The girls put their pinning skills to work, pinning beautiful dresses, shoes, and accessories all from our website. While we loved all of the boards, we could only pick one winner. Sarah's Pinterest board stood out from the rest because we could really tell how dedicated she was to showing off her pinning skills. She pinned 31 Rissy Roo's images in total, and gained 217 followers on her board! Sarah chose Scala 48501 as her winning dress, which she'll get to wear during her Homecoming on October 24, 2015. Congrats again, Sarah! We hope you love your dress!

Everyone's been talking about our new Miss America 2016, Betty Cantrell. She stunned all of the judges during the 95th Annual Miss America pageant, and all eyes are on her to see what she has planned for changing the world during her reign. Her operatic singing was obviously incredible, but there's one thing from the pageant that we're still totally obsessing over: the dress that she won her crown in!

Did you recognize the gown she wore on her big night? The Miss America 2016 winning dress is by one of our very own designers: Panoply, which is part of House of Wu! Former Miss Georgia wore Panoply style 44284, a stunning two-piece evening gown that features an off-the-shoulder 3/4-length sleeve trimmed in bugle beads and AB stones. The skirt on this gown is a very fitted mermaid in Mikado that starts with a beaded waistband and flows into a generous explosion of a two-tiered mermaid skirt, and finishes with a sweeping train.

This two piece mermaid gown is such a glamorous look for not only a pageant, but for homecoming or prom, as well. And, with winter right around the corner, this is also a great choice for winter formal events... because it never gets more classy than winter white! All that you'll need to add is your very own crown to top the look off. This is definitely a one of a kind gown, and one that you can rock yourself, which is our favorite part about this look.

Being a Disney princess may be something that's hard to achieve in real life, but one way to certainly almost be a Disney princess is getting all dolled up for red carpet events like the Emmys. And, that's exactly what some celebrities did on the 2015 Emmys red carpet! A handful of actresses were spotted all dressed up in yellow, presumably taking a little inspiration from Belle in Beauty and the Beast.

Belle looks ran three deep at the 2015 Emmys: Mad Men actress Kiernan Shipka, model Heidi Klum, and stylist June Ambrose all wore the Disney princess' color of choice. The 95 Annual Miss America pageant was a night to remember, from the various competitions of the pageant, to seeing gorgeous Sherri Hill dresses on the runway, to the moment of truth: seeing Miss Georgia, Betty Cantrell being crowned... in a Panoply gown! As usual, all of the contestants wowed the crowd, but Betty took it to a whole new level and is our new Miss America 2016. Her opera performance showed off her unique and wonderful talent, and her thoughtful response when asked about the Tom Brady scandal showed just how up-to-date she is on current events.

Our favorite dress designers are taking over the Miss America pageant left and right! Just last year, we had announced that Tony Bowls was the Official Evening Gown Sponsor for Miss America 2015. Well, we have a new surprise for the Miss America 2016 Pageant: organizers of the competition recently announced that Sherri Hill will be the event's official gown sponsor!

The designer's dresses will be featured during the live broadcast of the 95th Annual Miss America Competition in Rissy Roo's very own hometown of Atlantic City, New Jersey. The 2016 Miss America Competition will air on Sunday, September 13, on ABC-TV, so make sure not to miss out. Amongst getting to wear the crown and represent Miss America in various ways for an entire year, this year's winner will also wear Sherri Hill dresses to the various events and public appearances she attends throughout the year.
