The last prom trend we discussed was the increasingly popular short dresses trend. This week, it's all about the hi lo (or, high low) trend. For those of you who are a little iffy about the short dress look, hi lo is a little bit of both! The hi lo trend is super chic, and some may say a more elegant way to show off your legs!

Since hi lo is such a popular trend, there's many dresses out there to get the look: from sparkly, to print, to neon. Our favorites for this year are below:

Another type of hi lo dress that everybody is crazy about has two looks in one: the classic short dress + the hi lo style. How is this possible, you ask? Detachable skirts! Getting a dress that can be used in different ways is so genius! It's like buying two for the price of one. You can wear the detachable skirt for prom and then when you're heading over to the after prom party...just take it off! Or, you can even get more use out of the dress and wear it without the detachable skirt for another event. You decide!

This week's prom trend has been becoming more and more popular over the past couple of years. It seems like everybody wants to show off their legs! If you want to go for that super girly-girl look, this trend will definitely suit your needs.

We love the short prom dress look! It's fun and easy to move around in so you can break it down on the dance floor. We also love the short look because it's so perfect for those that are obsessed with shoes. With this look, make sure to find the perfect statement heels to wear with your outfit. To complete your look, try moisturizing your lovely stems with some shimmery liquid bronzing lotion!

Finding the perfect dress to wear to a winter wedding can be difficult; you want to wear a cute dress, but it's cold out! Whether a formal or semi-formal wedding, here's some ideas that are perfect for showing off your fashion sense during the one month when dresses aren't quite as easy to wear.

Formal Wedding

This type of wedding usually means it's good to wear a long dress, since it's the winter time. Black is the perfect color for winter because the darker color is always appropriate, no matter what the setting.  It can also always be dressed up or down with accessories, depending on just how formal the black-tie affair is.

The first dress is La Femme style 18928, an elegant and classic jersey gown with satin accents and criss-cross satin straps under the bust. The back also has satin straps that criss-cross with a rhinestone brooch in the center. Since it's a simple black gown, you can have a lot of fun changing the look with accessories.

The second dress is a fancier number that's perfect if you know the event you are attending is on the more formal side. It's Alyce Jean De Lys style 29602, a satin and lace gown with a scoop-neck. The cap sleeves and black lace make is so perfect for the colder months!

 Semi-Formal Wedding

If it's a semi-formal wedding, a cocktail dress is the perfect choice. This type of wedding allows you to be much more flexible with your outfit and more easily show off your style. Our two favorite cocktail dresses for a winter wedding are below - the longer sleeves make them so perfect for the winter time. And, since they're just classic cocktail dresses, they can be worn for a number of other occasions, too!

For a funkier look, we love Jovani style 74207. It's a short cocktail dress with 3/4 length sleeves and illusion detail that shows off just enough skin, while still having that classy look for a wedding.

for a cocktail dress on the more formal size, we love Alyce Jean De Lys style 29524. This chic and classy short dress has a lace over satin fabric with a scoop neckline and 3/4 length illusion sleeves. Best yet, it's a classic little black dress that can be word to many different events!

Even though we didn't include Kristen Stewart in our Best Dressed at the 2013 Oscars blog post earlier this week, we were still absolutely in love with her look! We were especially impressed with her style considering she was stuck on crutches for the night!

The white lace gown look has definitely been a popular trend lately, and will continue to be for Prom 2013. There's a lot of different options as far as getting Kristen's look for prom, but we especially love La Femme style 18951. It's a gorgeous white lace mermaid dress with a trumpet silhouette, sweetheart neckline, lace bodice, and flared sheer skirt. Michelle Obama looked absolutely stunning in red on Monday night as her husband was once again inaugurated as the President of the United States of America! The first lady wore a flowy chiffon red gown by Jason Wu. We loved that she wore a warm color in winter - it was making us excited that Spring and Summer are just around the corner! The best part about the dress, though, was that it was so flattering to her arms, the First Lady's most well known feature.

All of the stars were out last night on Jan. 9th for the 2013 People’s Choice Awards at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, and we loved seeing them arrive on the red carpet! While everyone at Rissy Roo's unanimously agreed that Ian Somerhalder was our fave celebrity that walked the red carpet, we were of course also amazed at how beautiful all the ladies looked! Even though New Year's Eve has come and gone, we're still obsessing (just a little bit) over all of the sparkly outfits! Seventeen Magazine put together a great collection of what some of the celebrities were wearing when the ball dropped. The styles were all so perfect for NYE, but some of the celebs were even rocking new Prom 2013 trends! So, if you're looking for some ideas for your prom dress, these celeb NYE outfits are definitely a great place to start.

Carly Rae Jepsen performed in Times Square on NYE in a fashionable long, red maxi skirt and black crop top. Her show was so great! After the performance, she revealed on Twitter:

"@carlyraejepsen: Had a blast performing in Times Square! Nobody knew i had long johns under my skirt...till now;) #RockinNewYearsEve"

Pretty silly that she was wearing long johns, but a very good idea - it was very cold that night!

The 2 piece dress outfit is definitely going to be one of the popular trends for Prom this year, so we loved that Carly Rae was already rocking the look! Dress designers Jovani, Xtreme, Dave & Johnny, and Sherri Hill have all included sexy 2-piece numbers in their Prom 2013 collections, with both short and long skirts. If you want to get a similar look to Carly Rae, we love Jovani style 5336 because of the long, tulle skirt.

Ashley Tisdale was hanging out with her girlfriends Shelley Buckner and Kim Hidalgo on NYE. Ashley rocked the same sexy little black dress that she wore to the Breaking Dawn Pt 2 premiere in Los Angeles. We thought it was so awesome that she was wearing the dress again - it definitely couldn't have been any more perfect for New Year's Eve because of all of the sequins!

We especially loved her friend's pink baby doll dress, though! It kept within the NYE spirit because of the sequins, but was definitely a unique dress to wear because it was pink! We love Jovani style 612 for a similar style - a great dress to wear for either prom or homecoming.

Kim Kardashian is of course always rocking sexy outfits, and NYE is no exception! Her sheer and lace dress hugged her curves (...and her baby bump!...the newest Kardashian news from Kanye West!) so well. The long sleeves and length of the skirt is a great compliment to the revealing lace - sometimes it's all about finding balance in your sexy outfit! Jovani style 9448 is a great example of that - the long sleeves keep the dress from being too revealing.

What a cute pic of Sarah Hyland sharing a midnight kiss with her boyfriend Matt Prokop! As if the kiss wasn't enough to make this pic perfect, we love Sarah's outfit - a burgundy dress and glittery heels! Burgundy has been such a popular color in the Fall and Winter months, that her style couldn't be more on-point. Nicki Minaj looked as sexy as ever on New Year's Eve in her shiny gold bandage dress and shoes. Seventeen Mag wrote, "this metallic, monochromatic look would be totally stunning for prom." We couldn't agree more!
